I absolutely love this!!!! Is there anyway to add the speed limit?
One concern. When planning a route in the future and a road happens to be closed now due to wether then the route planning failed. Customer service immediately returned an email with an explanation. Overriding a closed road is not possible even if the departure date is in the future. Otherwise the best route planning app available now. I tested them all. Would make travel planning a lot easier if layovers can be planned in overnight stops. Like layover in Lisbon for 2 nights and normally leave at 09:00. Then it will be easy to adjust the actual time left and see how that effects my further planning. Now I have to calculate the number of days and hours I am laying over and that is messy.
$5.00 to be able to sync/share routes and a few other features? Absolutely. But $5.00 per MONTH??? ┌П┐(◉_◉)┌П┐
If I could give this zero stars, I would, it could not have been more inaccurate on routing would tell you to turn left when you were to turn right over and over and over again. After missing my stops repeatedly, I deleted this app.
I’ve been using inRoute for many years to plan everything from driving roadtrips in the US to walking tours in Paris and Madrid. This is a feature rich planning tool. I make heavy use feature that sets times for how long you will be at an attraction or the time you need to leave a location. The map becomes my plan for the day. I’ve contacted tech support a couple times and both times received almost immediate responses. I was fortunate to purchase this app back when they offered a lifetime subscription, but as much as I use it, I still think it is worth the current monthly or annual fee.
It needs exit numbers on the map
Three stars because this isn’t for people who want to enjoy the road. This is more like the quickest route. I want to travel the back roads, go through the small and forgotten towns. But the app does have a nice feature that shows grade for those hauling stuff.
It would be really nice if I could save layover times to the location record, currently the layover time only saves when a point is on a route and if you remove the point and then add to another route the layover time needs to be re-programmed.
Needs speed added to routes
I am only using the free features so far and it’s perfect and easy to use. I am heading from MA to Florida and I wanted to take the truckers route to avoid all the major cities the route is longer in distance but much shorter in time and headaches. No rush our traffic just a nice quiet easy ride just have to watch out for trucks!
Planning a RV tour of the Scottish Highlands. Got the 7 day trial just to see the full features… so worth it! Not only does the app allow you to realistically plan drive and stop times, you can add RV dimensions, save other points of interest, and plan gas stops at regular intervals. We added tons of possible parking spots along our route (with notes!) so that we can decide while on the road. I was super impressed at the search function as it found even the smallest parking lots and scenic lay-bys. Besides planning a route, it turned out to be a useful place to store info on literally any point of interest for a trip. Only thing I wish was an option was to be able to edit the URL on a found location (many locations have these included) as it would be nice to be able to choose a different link. I haven’t even used the actual driving directions yet and the app is still worth it!
New update is stupid I don’t want the order of my pins changed I pinned it in the order I wanted
I like the option to enter an entire trip while towing a travel trailer. Add layover times and set max speed to be travelled. My Speed is limited when towing the trailer. Also allows to find stopping points at specified time or distances. Each Time I use the app I find new and better ways to use the app.
I use InRoute daily as I run a lot of oversized load and find it much easier to run my permitted routes using this tool. I can only suggest more update satellite views to aid in using land marks and possible parking for me . All around great tool in making my job easier.
Instead of using street names could you also include route numbers, plz.
Great app once you get the hang off it good especially if you run oversized loads
i mostly use iRoute to plan my trips. across the state or the country. but recently ive found you can do more such as have it plan out your trip by time or stops. save makers for places you may want to go to (maybe a good way to use is to share maps) by time and way points. it also has roads by weather, hills, and turns - i think it includes routes based on bridge heights (camps/RVs take note) I did need to make a service call - due to saving a route and losing it - they contacted me the same day (Sunday) and got me going again - well worth considering and possibly paying for which I do
Ever since the latest update I can’t open favorites. Or save new routes. Barely does anything except simple a-b directions. No way points or anything. Basically useless. Need fixed because my company uses it for work.
Tried to get a route from DEN to SEA. At the moment, the mountain pass East of Seattle is snowing with chains required on all vehicles, travel not advised. With less than an hour extra, this can be avoided. No amount of route settings like avoid precipitation, avoid elevation, etc got InRoute to avoid it. In fact, there’s no indication in InRoute that the route created goes across a high pass frequently snowed in and currently so. Apple maps doesn’t route any better or worse, but it at least gives advisories this does not.
As a motorcycle rider i like to map customized rides and this has been the easiest app for it. Love it 💪🏻
Weather warnings, very cool. Genius to pair them with route charts, fantastic concept. The whole charts idea is… chefs kiss. The most basic thing that I love the most? I can set my intended speed and it calculates new arrival times. I saved enough money in fuel burn on 1 trip to pay the pro subscription fee. Because I was able to (quickly) see how changing my cruise speed would affect timing without having to hand calculate it all out. I could go on and on. There are something’s things that need adjustments, sure… same as everything in life…? Very happy customer.
This is my go to for RV navigation as it offers more filters than others like RVLife and is cheaper. I especially like being able to adjust by steep grades and curves. However, lately there have been a few navigational issues. Even if I’m following the route indicated it will suddenly say recalculating or return to the route when possible. If I get off to get gas without having programmed the stop ahead of time it sometimes recalculates to a different route until I return to the original one, and then it recalculates back. Along the route it sometimes takes odd, convoluted paths when it could have continued on the same road or randomly recalculates to a different route that invariably takes longer. Finally, occasionally, such as driving through Atlanta, it tells me to take exits that don’t exist or are actually an express toll lane, not an exit. It just seems like sometimes it doesn’t know where I am. Note this is a recent issue so may be the result of an update??? Hoping this is glitch that gets fixed as I’d been really happy with it.
I have been using this for years now. I really like it for what I do. One thing I think it lacks though is exit ramp mile markers. Lots of times permits have exit numbers but not street names.
Best by far
Do not add this app
I’ve been us in this App for over 4 years now and it works perfectly! Over the years I’ve discovered more that I can do with it that makes my routing easier. In areas where I can’t get service, inRoute has my route saved and will navigate me on until I get back into a service area. I love that the designer is constantly improving the app too
I’ve been using this app for sometime now, I love it. I ride on average 25-35K miles a year on a motorcycle and I am always looking for different routes. I pick my starting and ending locations and 1 destination in between and the hard part is done.
This app would be perfect if it showed mile markers
Best app I have used so far. I trust it way more than others.
Was easy/intuitive to ise. Highly recommended for any GoRuck City/star course
I too drive backup for super os loads. I would have liked to have had this long ago, Ive been a driver myself, 45 years. We frequently have to plot very complicated routes, including Tx, where we use farm roads, etc, that on other mapping apps are not usable due to the obscurity of roads. Im able to utilize g..sat to see road and overpass heights, and imput these into the route survey, or just to check the permit findings. Ive used this app for years, and have enjoyed the added saftey it brings to our industry. Alway Carob has answered promptly any questions! When I go offroad for personal trips, I can drop a pin to find my hunting spots, and way back. Thank you Carob. Big Horn Motorsport
Great app for routing a motorcycle trip, the best I could find so far. I wish there was an option of route library, where people can share their routes. It would be so convenient to find a someone’s route from New York to Boston, and just change a few way points, or I would be glad to share the routes I built with people.
Rated four star because gps or maps need to be updated and the buttons could be a more user friendly. My only complaint is when entering a specific route to be DOT complaint with a permit, the alternative routing is aggravating. You would think the developer could give an option for entering a permit. Would love and would pay to see the app add a. Feature for scanning a permit and automatically programming the route map, this would save a lot of time.
I love this app used it for several years. But now all of a sudden, the time that is estimating for my route is so ridiculous. Is it going to take me 7 1/2 hours to go 17 miles. I think it thinks I’m walking or crawling. But I cannot find, how to tell it that I’ll be in the car. Other than that, I really like this app and use it a lot.
I’m in the middle of a 28 day 14 campground National Park trip and have found three major issues with this app. The first is truly a bug, the app keeps losing our location. It would show us off road or on a parallel road at the worst times. Apple Maps would show us still on the route, but InRoute would be telling us to proceed to the route. Almost always when we were in an area with several turns to make. The second issue was when exporting to Apple Maps (trying to avoid issue 1). It wouldn’t export the RV safe route, just the destination. Which means there was no need for InRoute could’ve just entered the destination into Apple Maps. The last issue is more of a feature request. At one point InRoute routed use through a city with more than 10 traffic lights in less than 3 miles of road. If I would have stayed on the expressway for another 3 miles I would have had an exit to avoid all of those lights. I would like to see a selection to minimize the traffic control devices (traffic lights, stop signs, round abouts….). This would be very helpful especially when traveling with someone following you.
I wish the road name icons were bigger can’t read them! And when you zoom in gets smaller. Wish it had stop lights too like Apple Maps
This app would be better if it showed the mile marker numbers.
We thought this would be a great app to use as we traveled out West with our travel trailer from Minnesota. One of our stops was Zion National Park. We especially wanted to avoid switch backs in the mountains. We loaded in our vehicle and trailer dimensions, length, etc. The app routed us to Hwy. 9 to the East entrance of Zion and had us taking the Mt Carmel tunnel through the mountain and very sharp switchbacks. We had to turn around at the entrance and back track adding an extra 2 hours onto our trip. The one thing we thought the app would help with but did not!
I especially value the ability to easily select multiple stops (waypoints) and optimize the route depending upon travel by vehicle or foot. This is my go-to map app!
I’ve been using inRoute for several years now. Mostly, I used it to plan and execute motorcycle trips. More recently, it’s been invaluable in planning car and RV trips. Every time an update comes down, more useful features are included. Also, I can use the app on the desktop, laptop, and iPad, and saved routes migrate across all devices. I particularly love the curviness and elevation graphs that help evaluate a route.
I love it!
I use this app for the line of work I do and it has been a life saver. Some suggestions for the app designers: can you add exit numbers to the map and increase the amount of pin drops one can add to a route. After you reach 100; you have to go back and delete waypoints in order to add more to your route.
I had planned several outing rides using this amazing tool. It is feature rich and the optimization freedom is a welcome feature. Looking forward to the next update (7.6 brought us avoidances but is missing an important one) hopefully adding “avoid gravel roads and avoid unpaved roads” (distinction noted; although both are technically unpaved, they offer different challenges for motorcyclists). Or perhaps, optimize for ADV versus strictly road. Some of my fellow riders would not ride beyond pavement and based on their saddles I totally understand why. So this feature would be a welcome one.
It’s an easy to use app and it doesn’t cost much and it makes my day much more efficient
Need to keep weather charts more current!
If your a bus driver this app is for you. This automatically goes from one address to the next without touching your phone. I used this as a beginning of every school yr until I become familiar with my route then I cancel the subscription. So with the $5 for a month.
So glad I randomly found this app. Exactly what I was looking for. Create a start waypoint and drop pins to select a route. It follows the road to each point. You can rename each point for whatever you want. I used them as mileage markers, gas, food and out camping stops for a trip along the blue ridge parkway. The best app I’ve found! Yes, there’s a paid subscription and I don’t even mind that!
App keeps reverting to previous trip (while I am at the destination of previous trip.) I pressed End but it keeps going back. Other than that I like the app better than Google Maps etc.
